note to self re SG fic

Okay, so reading David Allen's Getting Things Done seems to be a good idea, and it feels really really good when I manage to put another thing down on the projects list (I can actually feel my head clearing when I manage to get enough out of it), but why do you (creative muse part) insist that I should write Mary-Sue self-insertion Stargate fic? Even if McKay is some of my undergraduate classmates squared. And Sheppard is another subset of my undergraduate classmates squared.

RE: GTD (see how quick I pick up the "lingo" - oooh!)

Is it really worth it? I bought it months ago on a whim but with great intentions of reading it before work started. So much for great intentions. Now it's one of those catch-22s: If I take the time to read the organizational book, I will be too far behind to be able to get organized. *sigh* Remind me again why law school seemed like a good idea at the time?

BTW - if I don't get out of patent litigation soon, I am going to go stark raving mad! I'm thinking of begging to be put into the transactional part of the group. Any advice on this?

I think that it is worth it -- I have not yet put "the program" into effect, merely started to write out projects, but I find even doing that is a great help. I think that this is a book to be read & reread -- I've read it once so far & plan on rereading it again this week to let it sink in a bit before I screw my courage up and begin to get with the program.

Why is litigation driving you nuts? In terms of getting put into transactional, I think asking for the work would be fine -- you may want to present it first as "getting more well-rounded" if you think they'd be reluctant to give you the work otherwise....

P.S. Although, I have no experience in BIGLAW -- my firm is odd in that I have to continually and constantly go out and ask for work from the senior associates. I have no previous experience in a law firm, but it seems to me that the work should be finding me, rather than the other way around...
