So instead of working on clerkship letters, I read [livejournal.com profile] ajhalluk's latest work instead. Draco and Neville are so fortunate to have each other. And Hermione is a lucky, lucky woman.

Brooke has promised to loan me Paladin of Souls this week. In exchange for that, I told her that I'd seen Monstrous Regiment at the local Waldenbooks.

I am currently wondering just where the source of the allergen was, as I am quite itchy tonight. I should go take an antihistamine. I don't think it really lessens the itching all that much, but it gets me to fall asleep so that I don't notice I'm having an allergic reaction.

The Cubs and the Twins are doing quite well!! My antitrust professor asked a classmate, decked out in Cubs shirt and hat, if he wanted to see a Cubs/Red Sox World Series. And on the subject of Cubs fans...[livejournal.com profile] sangerin should get this one...
scene bunny so I don't forget it )

I had an interview today for an in-house counsel position. I think it went all right, but I was talking to the assistant director of C&P today, and I wound up scheduling a mock interview with her and the director tomorrow, so that I can see if I'm doing anything wrong in my interviews. I also found a law newspaper there, and started writing down some of the classified notices. I saw that a few law schools had placed ads looking for professors. Granted, I'm probably far too inexperienced, but I may as well try tossing my hat into the ring anyway....I know I want to teach IP, Civil Procedure, Ethics, and Federal Courts.

Oh blast. I should know better than to lurk in the fandom late at night. Yet Another Damn Snape Plot Bunny. Snape/Sinistra, "Nolo me tangere," because Sinistra is a vampire due to Snape's actions in the last go-round with Voldemort...

To-do list )

Ooof. I have a headache. West Wing was good tonight, but I won't say much more than that. Poor Brooke -- she is taping it all this semester, as she has a class that does not get out until after the show's already started. I will have to see how my trusts & estates professor reacts to In re Estate of Black -- I gave Brooke a printout to take to the professor, as Brooke has her this semester for a class.

The mock interview went well in terms of feedback; I would never have guessed that one of my flaws is that I am being too serious in the interview situation. I told Brooke this as we met up between classes, and she immediately started laughing, and commented, "Just one of life's little ironies." I also need to work on letting out fewer signals when I get a question that I'm uncomfortable with, the negativity and laconic tendencies, etc., but it's things that are fixable and that I can work on. The C&P people think that I have a most impressive resume....but of course I still worry. Of course, two of my friends are graduating this December and still don't have jobs lined up yet. At least I've got until May to find something. And they reassured me that the academic job-hunt process is not yet in full swing, so I have time to put together a C.V. and a different cover letter. Univ. of VA, Univ. of KS, and CA Western had ads in a legal newspaper...

The house is a mess, and I need to do a lot of things with the job hunt, but I am tired and a bit zoned out tonight. So instead, I'll post Ch. 36 up to FA....Mr. Rudbek biked into work and back, 12 miles each way, and into a headwind on the way home, so he's pretty zoned out tonight as well. But one of us should go unload and reload the dishwasher tonight. It is rather strange, but I am better at unloading so that everything is in a place that can be found, and Mr. Rudbek, having grown up with a dishwasher and in a large family, is better at loading the dishwasher to maximum capacity.

I am still hungry, and longing for a hot dessert. Brooke was kind enough to give us various squashes and bell peppers from her garden, and now I want to make chocolate zucchini (courgette for the British) cake. It involves a good amount of grated zucchini. I also have to get my grandpa's recipe for zucchini quick bread at some point. I am the only member of the family that really likes it, and I think it involves milk....sigh.

I am trying to decide if I want to send the rest of my brothers-in-law and my brother LJ codes or not. None of them are into HP, but it could be an interesting way to communicate, or get them to meet women. My brother would have many things to say about my nerd/geek status, but then again, he'd lose his "Annoying Younger Brother" union card if he didn't give me a hard time. Talk about funny; my brother could read names from the phone book, or ingredients off a soy ice cream box, and have me laughing so hard that I couldn't breathe. Then he'd go into his Richard Simmons imitation, "Air is our friend. Breathe." Which, of course, would get me laughing even harder....
