Monday morning
Oct. 6th, 2003 10:46 amWell, another weekend that was less productive than it should have been, as always. The immortality plot is still working; eat your heart out, Thomas Riddle.
Chapter 36 of Vector's Challenge is now up at AT as of Saturday. One reviewer didn't understand why Aoife reacted to Snape the way she did; one reviewer thought it was just right, and
melannen loves Edmund and Aoife.
The bus company that runs the commuter route from Unplottable into Milwaukee was circulating a petition today, because Milwaukee County Transit is trying to take over its routes and business. Since this would be a truly terrible fate (in terms of timeliness, cleanliness of buses, type of buses, etc.), I signed the petition.
Over the weekend, I saw on
flourish's LJ an interesting discussion of the British class system by
ajhalluk. It reminded me of things my parents used to talk about, what with the Old Man being in the U.S. Army JAG, and therefore "an officer and a gentleman" by act of Congress. He would always bring up The Army Officer's Guide, and the like publications for the wives. The military, after all, is still quite hierarchial, with a definite division between officers, NCOs, and the enlisted. It also reminded me of Paul Fussell's Class: A Guide Through the American Status System.

To do:
1) make to-do list
2) Flight reservations from Milwaukee to the on-site interview
3) Hotel reservations for Chicago, Patent Bar
4) Study for Patent Bar
5) Letters DONE and OUT
5) Put clean laundry away
All right, enough rambling to wake up my mind. I'm going to go read ethics now and hope that Prof. WW will not commit his usual sartorial offense of wearing a polka-dotted tie with a striped shirt. And it's not little polka dots, either. It's white dots about 0.5 cm wide on a purple background. It sets the scientific and artistic parts of my brain screaming with pain. The man is a priest, after all. He can go ahead and wear the black suit with the Roman collar....
Edited to add: I finished off a few things on the list. I have been smelling gravy for the last hour or so, and now I am quite hungry, and it's 15 minutes to class, drat it all.
