kaylarudbek: Justice seated in the heavens with open eyes and an uplifted sword (Good_bush)
Hello to [livejournal.com profile] heidi8 who newly friended me. Welcome to the rambling; pull up a chair & grab a beverage of your choice!

The sun is shining, I got plenty of sleep last night, and my Comment is handed in. And I have been mentioned in the same sentence as [livejournal.com profile] naomichana and [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical by [livejournal.com profile] ajhalluk. Life is pretty good. Or at least it will be until I wake up fully and realize just how much work I have to get through today. *g*

Hmm. Reading through the flist and comments on the "10 unpopular opinions" meme; seeing a fair amount of "people who post more than once a day." I do post a lot, and I know it. It comes from being a lawyer-in-training and personal circumstances as well. I'm a fair bit older than most of my classmates at school, I don't drink that much, and at times I have very little to talk to them about, among other things. (Me: old married lady, did not grow up in Wisconsin. Them: my younger brother's generation, single and looking, Wisconsin residents all their lives.)

Mr. Rudbek is a very good listener, but our schedules just are not matching that well this semester. (Day shift for him, while I'm basically close to being a night student this semester. We are not quite ships passing in the night, but it still is not the ideal.)

I do try to keep it down to twice a day, for my readers' sakes. But remember, "a lawyer is a person who can write a 10,000 word document and call it a brief." (For some reason, I've seen that quote attributed to Franz Kafka -- can't imagine why.)

Now to get some exercise & some outlining done today.

to-do list )

Hello to [livejournal.com profile] lwd and [livejournal.com profile] venivincere who newly friended me.

Bad: I did not bring in any food with me today.
Good: Public Interest Law Society was sponsoring a Thanksgiving dinner.
Bad: The 1Ls descended like a plague of locusts and left nothing but desserts by 5:30 p.m., and I didn't get to the dinner until 6:45 p.m.
Good: Professor G's pecan-cranberry-Grand Mariner relish. I will have to ask her for the recipe.
Bad: Getting into numerous dairy products, with a concurrent sugar high.
Good: Free wine with dinner.
Bad: My decision to try a red instead of the white. On afterthought, white would probably go better with sweet potato pie and pecan-cranberry relish.
Good: Getting 1/2 hour of swimming in, and picking up 20 CDs from the Milwaukee public library. I was in a jazz mood when I was picking stuff; I found a Smithsonian collection of early jazz, 5 CDs, some Spyro Gyra, some Sun Ra...
Bad: Skipping a presentation on "The Importance of IP Law in the Legal Careers of Today and Tomorrow," with the IPLR advisors there, etc.

All right. I must run and get packed to go catch a bus.

Edited to add: Had to delete some spam comments from this entry. Grrr. Annoying.

And I think I've figured out the "weird taste in my mouth" thing. Note to self: whitening toothpaste is NOT a good idea when you have sensitive teeth. I swear I've been tasting my fillings for close to a week...

I got this CD from eBay today; this song reminds me of the family reunions on the Italian side of my family. 60-70 dB conversations for the entire evening, and all the good Italian food you can eat. Sigh. The one thing I want from Star Trek or HP is a transporter system or Apparition, so that I can visit my family and Mr. Rudbek's family during the holidays.

And I'd better go take an antihistamine so I can get to sleep tonight.
