Enough is enough

Enough is enough. We are going to blow this popsicle stand and head back to the Midwest! I still may be slamming my head into a brick wall as far as the job search is concerned, but at least I won't be doing so thousands of miles from home.

The sweet taste of vindication: having lunch w/ a former co-worker to find out they replaced me with THREE people (two agents and a docketing clerk). I told them I needed a docketing clerk, I told them so, I told them so!

On behalf of the midwest, we're happy to welcome you back. :)

You're very welcome :) I have no idea if this is going to be the final push back to "Ithaca," so to speak, but at least I will be closer to family at this point. Which if this depression lasts longer, will be v. important.

Good luck finding a job somewhere. That "replaced by three people" bit sounds like the white collar version of something I remember from a memoir by Jack London. As a boy, he had a job shoveling coal, doing several men's work, until he quit from exhaustion.

Yes, I was not happy with being my own docketing clerk. Ah well, good judgment is what you get from experience, and experience is what you get from bad judgment.
