busy weekend

Well, it was a busy weekend what with OotP and the bike camping trip. The bike trip was good; 63 miles on Saturday, 55 today, averaging 12.6 mph on Saturday and 10.5 mph today (uphill & into the wind.) The new saddle worked quite well, and the scenery was beautiful. North central Wisconsin, Montello to Hartman Creek State Park and back. Dairy farms, tree farms (mmm, that pine scent), green meadows full of orange, yellow, and dark purple wildflowers and purple-tufted grass. And only getting chased by three dogs (in a group) to boot, which we outran. Cows and horses are much more placid; they may turn to look at us or come toward us, but they stay behind fences.

Getting my hands on OotP; husband fell asleep early on Friday night. I let him nap until 11:30, then woke him up. We arrived at the Barnes & Noble at 12:30 a.m., and the store had an employee out front telling people that if they hadn't pre-reserved a copy, they'd have to come back on Sunday to reserve one. So I got a bit worried. My husband found the lab intern who's an employee at the store, and we had to wait until ~2:15 a.m. to get a copy. I read the entire thing by about 4 a.m., got up around 8, and was off for the bike trip around 10:30. Caffeine is a wonderful thing...
