So I’m trying to decide what particular shade of orange would work best to bind up the Orange Excrement’s luck

cheaper yarn here that would work with my black yarn in stash: https://www.simplysockyarn.com/cascade-yarns-heritage/
Or support a local Black-owned yarn business here: https://athayneshouseyarns.com/collections/dye-to-order
or knit from stash here: https://www.ravelry.com/people/kaylarudbek/stash/postcard

most likely would do a two-color mosaic stitch shawl, trying to decide if I would keep it or donate it (I dislike the color orange in general, most shades of it look awful on me)

So my HA1C is down to normal levels from diabetic 6 months ago, and I bought this new knitting pattern

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/perspective-6

to celebrate. I don’t know what yarn combo I should use for it; I’m thinking of making another heraldic combination (so yellow with one of red/blue/green/purple/black or white/light gray with one of red/green/blue/purple/black https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_tincture)

I probably have enough yellow/blue combinations to make a shawl for every day of the week so that may be my fallback.

Any suggestions?

1) knit all the cotton/linen/hemp tank tops and tees!
2) set up the warp shuttle and actually weave the easy peasy lemon squeezy towels
3) finish embroidering the neon mandala
4) embroider the bicycle pillowcases

I finished the knitting portion of my mother-in-law’s blanket tonight. Now I need to find a large crochet hook and start working on weaving in the ends and adding fringe. I don’t think that I will make anything else from this yarn, as it was so thick that I was working on 12.0 mm needles and I couldn’t even knit Continental style, so my lower arms and wrists and hands are aching from this.

So, from Stunning String Studio (https://www.stunningstring.com/cyber2021/) on the app I have bought the kits for Full Spectrum and Bollenstreek respectively, and a set of minis. Still trying to decide whether to get mystery kits on the website or not (I can specify the color families that I like but it’s still luck of the draw).

I think that I missed out on the Orient Express kit deal on the app, although since I have the kit in a different color combination (huckleberry purple and light gray instead of the black and red combination) I should be satisfied with what I have. (But I still really really liked that black/red combination as shown)

From Knit Picks, I bought some Stroll fingering weight to make two of these dickeys/windshields: https://www.moderndailyknitting.com/2021/10/08/the-amazing-swarf/
One will be black/gray/white with hot pink and teal as the two other colors of the five (1980s city color palette) and the other will be blues (navy/medium/light) with firecracker heather (red-orange) and a golden tan (nautical or Ernie combination). Since I tend to wear a yellow jacket for cycling (with red or purple as options depending on the weather) and a long-sleeve jersey underneath of hot pink, bright blue, or purple respectively, nothing is going to exactly go with those jacket and jersey combinations. So I picked out colors that I liked and that I thought would go with the gray and firecracker heather already in my stash.

Someone on Ravelry suggested that I try holding Stroll and Palette together (softness and strength respectively) as the pattern calls for holding two strands of fingering weight together, and that might be a good idea as well. Since a lot of my bicycle clothes are line dry anyway, it probably wouldn’t be that difficult an add to the current cycling wardrobe.

The more often that Mr. Rudbek and I go fall/winter cycling, the more projects get added to my Ravelry queue…although since we both managed to take falls while out running in the last four days, biking might wait until next weekend. He got his left knee Thanksgiving evening, and I got my left elbow, shoulder, and ribs today. I think that we fell down in the same stretch of the path, although his fall was at night when he had no lights on him, and I think that my fall today was due to fatigue and new shoes and socks.

ETA: and I still want to go to fibre space to see whether they have any navy heather in the Kelbourne Woolens Scout (https://kelbournewoolens.com/product/kelbourne-woolens-scout/) left after their Plaid Friday sale. I really want to make the Debut pullover from MDK and I was going back and forth about the color to use for that.

Or I could check Neighborhood Fibre Company to see what they have in stock for the yarn that the Debut pattern uses…(https://neighborhoodfiberco.com/collections/studio-dk) I want a fairly solid/tonal blue for some reason…

10,989 yards of yarn in finished projects for 2020. Equals 10.048 kilometers. So an average of 211 yards of yarn used per week, or 0.192 kilometers, 192 meters per week. Now to see whether I can do this again in 2021.

If I use up at least 151 yards in another project before January 1, 2021 I will have finished 10 kilometers of yarn off. So even if I am not running 10k, I basically have knitted a 10k.

I am getting the urge to knit a blanket. Maybe the great American Aran afghan? http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-great-american-aran-afghan

Or one of those sampler afghans involving knitting oodles of squares http://purplekittyyarns.com/pattern-squares/vol34-no3401

I have been obsessed with knitting small triangular shawls for most of the past year. I only need a gray one and a solid tan one at this point, although I probably have enough yarn for 30+ other colors....and my kuura black ice is now huge now that I washed it, so maybe I need a smaller black shawl as well. I need my proper blocking squares and I think they are still at my parents house.

And then there is my wrapped in comfort knit-my-way-through the entire book and the entire color spectrum to boot....plus an urge to knit a gray hat to match my conductive gloves and then a fair isle hat/scarf/mitten set.

I also have a strong urge to buy much flannel sleepwear and sheets for spouse and myself. Yep, I am in a cocooning mood.

or maybe a Leopard?

Good: Leopard installed on the machine.

Bad: Leopard does not appear to play well with XJournal.

Bad part II: the left leg & knee. I can haz nanomeds and aftermarket replacement naow kthx? Or at least a new chair for home and two new ones for work?

Bad III: keeping my resolution of trying to stay off LJ for Lent. At least I didn't post and I did stay off for the first week and the Triduum...

Good: the next door neighbor's little black cat, who is the most extroverted people-loving feline I've ever seen. She sits by the complex's hot tub & pool to lifeguard and meows until you stick your hand out for her to sniff. Then tonight I brought dinner home from work -- barbecue chicken. Somebody was sitting on the sidewalk outside our apartment, and after much petting and behind-the-ear rubs, she actually followed me up the stairs and into my apartment. minastir had to put her out, and she sat on the ledge by the door for quite some time (hoping for chicken -- I didn't give her anything because I'm not sure the neighbors would want me feeding their cat).

Evil: Kintera, Kintera, Kintera. I swear they paid my undergrad institution off to get the web hosting duties for the alumni sites.

Mixed: the newest RCN novel. Now I can't decide whether to ship Leary/Mundy (star-crossed aristos!), Leary/Miranda(he's actually noticing someone who has a brain, and she's probably the sort of person who'd run his life for him and do it quite competently and well), or Mundy/(spoiler)(she so needs to get laid and he's mmmrrfffspoilerspoilerspoiler). I am well aware that this is of interest only to one or two people on the flist, and maybe you've read the newest RCN novel and know who I'm talking about already.

Annoying: my knitting. It seems that the Year of the Frog is going quite strong. I ripped the Lopi vest out and reknit it back to the same point. It's still drying from the wet-blocking. Then I had to rip out the sock toe on the socks I was working on and redo it (three toes still sticking out when down to 32 stitches from 72 is not a good thing). Now I'm contemplating ripping out my mom's sock(dropped a bunch of stitches when switching from double-points to Magic Loop), my Pi-Are-Square shawl (I think I'm working on too small of needles, and/or I have too much yarn -- I am working what I think is Blackberry Ridge lace-weight on size 4 US, and it feels very dense, not lacy at all) and then the three pair of socks I made myself that are far too loose in the lower leg and around the foot. Oh well, at least I have an idea for some original writing that I think I can possibly pull off with one B. as a consultant. Anybody know of any guides to writing screenplays for a rank beginner? (it seems that the knitting and the writing have an inverse correlation in ease of performance, or something along those lines...)

Stressful: work. Need to go smite some sense into various people (not employees) -- maybe we should bring back trial by combat.... Also need to talk the boss into buying us a proper IP management system so that I am no longer feeling like MacGyver when dealing w/ the files.
