Any recipe that involves 60 eggs and 180 magnets begs to be tried at some point (or, a piecosahedron is indeed a thing of beauty). Check it out in The Hungry Scientist Handbook (authors' websites here and here
ObBujold: the thought of Miles and Ivan getting their hands on this is quite entertaining. Although at this point in the series, Ma Kosti would surely kick them out of her kitchen (except for the deep-fried edible origami).
