Well, I managed to clear off both the computer desk and part of the other desk in the office last night. Ok, so I have stuff all over the daybed. At least I made a dent, and I can see the surface of the desks again. This is big progress. Maybe I should make a game of it, to see how many trash bags I can fill today...

And the computer is partly ready to go for the fall semester. I had to run Norton Disk Doctor twice to get all the files un-cross-linked. I also need to figure out just how many files I can remove from the thing so that I have more hard drive space. Time to start stripping it down to bare necessities. Hmm, I don't know if I'd want a laser printer or an external hard drive for my birthday...the laser printer would be more practical, but one can never have too much hard drive space. Computer memory is just like bookshelves; you never really have enough, you can always fill it, and you always need more. And then there was the DVD write drive that I saw on clearance at CompUSA...sigh. Books, bikes and computers...massive money sinks, all three of them.

Sigh. Fall classes should never start before the first Tuesday of September IMAO. Starting in August is just wrong. It's too early and too hot.

The damn virus is still going around. Why did my university decide that their entire email system was going to be run on Microsoft Outlook, of all things? I keep on getting more infected email from my RL account...it is a very good thing I have a Mac and auxiliary email. My husband told me that one Mac saved an entire company...I'm sure the Old Man will be all wound up about it this weekend. (The Old Man = my father, not my husband. Military-brat thing.)

Insomnia bout again last night. I'm not sure whether the itching is due to allergies or stress. Either way, I'll make sure to take an antihistamine tonight. I would take one today, but I need to drive a car and I didn't get enough sleep last night. So I will be a responsible driver and not take antihistamine.

Brooke's brother thinks that their father needs another dog, a dachshund on stilts. I think the Old Man needs a dog as well, one that he'd have to walk and could walk w/o too much strain, unlike the terrier/spaniel mix who hated walks, or the Alaskan malamute that strained the Old Man's shoulder...

whew...

101 degrees Fahrenheit in Milwaukee this afternoon, at least according to the thermometer in the car dashboard. Books are all bought, husband picked up from work, visited the Law School, etc. And I had to go to the Evil Monopolist Store instead of the Plucky Independent Store.

The freshmen law students and undergraduates are on campus. It was crowded. And I cannot parallel park very well when it's on the left side of a curved one-way street.

Ah, this song brings back memories of undergrad...
