Hello to [livejournal.com profile] hedda62 who newly friended me.

Progress report: resume and letter to one of the other professors who's writing a recommendation letter for me. Resume and letter mailed out to my patent professor. I'll email her with the request for recommendation letters when I get the list of judges finally sorted out. I have yet to read ethics, study for patent bar, or go exercise. But I think I deserve a reward for getting the recommendation letter to the prof. and my resume to my patent professor, so maybe I will head to the Milwaukee library and pick up some music to clean the office by. I'm thinking Meat Loaf, Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries, something along those lines. 20 CDs...I get 20 CDs....mmm. No wonder I'm looking at getting a new external hard drive. If Apple charged $0.25/song, I'd probably buy most of the music.

No work on Vector's Challenge so far, as T. was on the bus, so we wound up sitting together and talking. It was a good thing, as otherwise I'd have fallen asleep until I wound up at the far end of the run. I had some coffee, which was probably a mistake as I'm reasonably sure it's cross-contaminated with dairy creamer. But I hate soda pop, and I've seen what it does to teeth...and after reading Fatland this weekend, I don't want to consume high-fructose corn syrup if I can possibly help it. I need to lose at least a stone, if not 25 lbs, so I've set myself on a diet.

And Green Bay lost this weekend as well as ND. Sigh. I need to go to the gym and work out with the punching bag, as then I will get positive catharsis.

[livejournal.com profile] fearlessdiva has a link to Orson Scott Card's article MP3s Are Not the Devil. Eric Flint also has an interesting article on it over at Baen's website in the Prime Palaver section: link right here and here and here...http://www.baen.com/library/defaultTitles.htm and go to the Prime Palaver sections...Janis Ian's article is here

I think Justice Stevens' perception that the music industry (he said it about ASCAP & BMI, dissenting in an antitrust case) is a cartel is entirely correct, and is probably what drives the resentment among consumers. The recording industry and the publishers have forgotten that they are middlemen, not creators of their own, and that their job is to find and distribute art, not create it of their own. Instead, they package the musical equivalent of fructose-based soft drinks....

I have my location for the Patent Bar Exam. Wednesday the 15th of October. "Beware the Ides of October..." Now I need to either find a hotel, or call my brother back and tell him, yes, I will stay at his place...

I have so much stuff to do tonight that I don't know where to start. Finish the clerkship letters! A letter and resume to the judges I interned for! The office is a COMPLETE disaster! Study for the Patent Bar!

And I have not had dinner yet...ergh. I hate my schedule, I absolutely hate it. Mr. Rudbek is cooking, but he got home a bit late. Oh well, at least we will have leftover pot roast until about Thursday or so. And I had the heel of the bread, so now one of us needs to make more for tomorrow, or we will be eating bagel sandwiches for lunch.

I will deep-six outlining until the 17th of October.

And of course, now I make some progress on Ch. 35 of Vector's Challenge....gotta love the Muse. Edited to add: I sent Ch. 35 to Brooke and posted it up on ff.net. I'm not entirely happy with it, but I think it's to the stage where it needs other eyes than mine to look at it. Probably into FA later on this week, then to my website at some point...(oh, I need to put In re Estate of Black a.k.a. Schwartz up on my website as well, and probably send it to Riddikulus. I think I may change the District to the non-existent District V, just to make it clear that this is a fictional work.)
