afternoon report
Nov. 8th, 2003 01:48 pmHello to
versaphile who newly friended me. I am now starting to branch back out into the Doctor Who fandom. Minneapolis in the 1980s, Tom Baker and Peter Davison on KTCA-Channel Two, the local PBS station; ah, the memories of youth. Well, if I wind up working for a fancy firm, I will have the money to start collecting DVDs and videos. Of course, then I will not have the time to watch them...
I am getting started on the big to-do list from Friday afternoon. Slowly but surely, I will be responsible about it, and it will all get done somehow. To further that, I think I will send Mr. Rudbek to the library to pick up my hold on the newest David Drake book. Library = huge timesink for me, NOT a place to get work done. "Addicted to the printed page," that's me.
melannen and I are now signed up for the obscure fandoms secret santa. This looks seriously cool.
dien, I don't see you on the list yet....and somebody else is willing to write E.R. Eddison fic.!
I am in a good mood, but feeling rather wiped physically, and I'm not entirely sure why. I need a nap. I was going to go to bed early last night, but then my brother called, so of course I had to talk to him for a while. His roommates asked who he was giving the hard time to, if he was talking to me, and he said, "Yes, of course, I'm talking to my sister; who else would I be so abusive/disrespectful to?" Sample remark from him about interview suits: "I suppose that as a patent lawyer, you have to dress like a bit of a nerd. You have to look both professional and like a nerd." My reply: "Of course. How else do you think I'm going to get the inventors to trust me?" (The remark was triggered by my telling him that I wore a midnight navy suit, with white blouse and cream-colored, blue polka-dot scarf to the interview in Detroit. I have been told by classmates that it looked sharp.) He is also interviewing, and bought himself a gray suit, and a red "power tie".
It is darn cold here today in Wisconsin, with a projected high of 34 degrees Fahrenheit, so about 1 degree Celsius or so, IIRC my conversions correctly. The sun is shining, and I have to go out at some point to take care of the dry cleaning. I should go for a walk at some point as well, as I am gaining weight.
Off I go to get some things accomplished this afternoon. Hopefully Notre Dame will beat the ring-knockers from the school on the Severn this afternoon....unlike this projection.
