Yes, I have been up for two hours already. [sarcasm] Yes, I love my internal biochemistry. [/sarcasm]

I should either be asleep, writing in the paper journal, doing calisthenics, or taking my books back to the Unplottable library before it opens. However, I am here.

So greetings to [livejournal.com profile] roseprofessor, [livejournal.com profile] wyomingknott, and [livejournal.com profile] executrix who newly friended me! Pull up a chair, grab a beverage of your choice, and welcome to the rambling....

I finished exactly two things on the to-do list for yesterday; unfortunately, the resumes/cover letters were not one of them. So I'm awake because I'm anxious and stressed. Must get more done today....(maybe I will try to clear some things off the desk and out from under it today; at least put some things back into the closet so it doesn't look so cluttered in here. I really, really, hate not being able to pace around my work area, and I feel trapped when I sit in this chair....I need clear space within the office, dammit. Weird for a packrat to say, but I am at the fingernails-on-blackboard stage...)

The amendment to the bar application has been mailed to Madison. Hopefully, they will accept it so that I can get admitted.

Very anxious. I checked the law school website for the alumni job postings. The same firm I interviewed with a few months ago is looking for a chemical patent lawyer with at least two years' experience. Much discussion with [livejournal.com profile] minastir about this tonight over dinner. He pointed out that for all I knew, the economy could be picking up and this could be yet another posting, rather than them attempting to fill the job I applied for and didn't get. Must email my patent professor again.

And then checking one of the big law firms (Milwaukee & Madison offices) took place.
Good: I could search the attorneys by school (law school or undergrad).
Bad: None of the IP people has corresponding law school &/or undergrad to mine.
Disheartening: My fellow alumni from my undergrad who are at this firm are seriously high-powered. Magna cum laude, summa cum laude, one was the valedictorian, etc. I felt quite inadequate about composing the "hi, hello, I'm a fellow alum and looking for a job" letter. But then [livejournal.com profile] minastir pointed out at dinner that I was in the hard sciences as an undergrad (which means that I could probably intimidate them -- the usual reaction I had when I told someone my major in undergrad was that they'd jump back at least a foot).

And speaking of fellow alumni and fellow majors, there are at least three more of them coming to the reunion, all guys I got along with. One of my good friends who was in the year ahead of me has a new job (good) & so no vacation time & can't come (bad). Now all I need is for my eldest brother-in-law to show up, and the reunion will be most interesting indeed....

Right. minastir has ROTK checked out from the video store, I have something irritating my eye, and it's time to call this enough for the day. More work tomorrow, particularly if I'm up at oh-dark-thirty again...
