Twelfth Night...
Jan. 6th, 2005 09:50 pmAnd LJ ate the entry I made last night about my holidays. Ah well, I shall have to try to remember the gist of it.
Everyone made it here for Christmas; father-in-law not feeling well, so he didn't join us for Christmas Eve dinner or evening Mass. However, all nine of us sat down to Christmas Day dinner.
minastir made a 20-lb turkey, I made three pies and various other foodstuffs, and it was a good thing that my mother-in-law helped us with the gumbo. I did wind up going out yarn & certificates to those I did not have something knitted for this year, and the things I did finish were big hits.
I did play a bit of the "appalling in-law" this Christmas...well, it was either let the fights over brother-in-law #3's upcoming wedding commence, or else divert things at mealtimes by needling brother-in-law #1 about his single status, in a funny fashion. I wound up lending A Civil Campaign to brother-in-law #3, for the ideas that 1) things could be a lot worse and 2) everybody has embarrassing in-laws.
New Year's was spent up in the frozen North, time with parents, grandfather, and out shopping.
Work was light before Christmas, but now promises to be quite busy through the middle of January at least, and probably beyond that. I am not yet to the point of having three months of work on my personal docket, though. I alternate between worry. fear, feelings of incompetence, and feelings of confidence. In short, typical first-year associate reactions.
