First, I have been reading way too much In Nomine fic this weekend. I present as a proposition for [livejournal.com profile] archangelbeth and [livejournal.com profile] jeriendhal: the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a Tether. Probably under Litheroy, maybe under Jean, with some of Marc's crew around, and definitely under siege by Vapula and Mammon....

Next, for [livejournal.com profile] greybard http://www.jiltanith.thefifthimperium.com/ has both David Drake's new RCN novel (with so much support for Leary/Mundy at least in my fevered mind that I cannot stop the mental squeeing and chuckling about teh angst and the whole Montague/Capulet aspect of Leary/Mundy....Adele has to get out of town one step ahead of the mob! Daniel's father basically hints that he should settle down and get the girl-chasing out of his system!)

Also at jiltanith is 1634: The Bavarian Crisis (more 1632-verse from Eric Flint and collaborators).

Your Brain is 60.00% Female, 40.00% Male

Your brain is a healthy mix of male and female

You are both sensitive and savvy

Rational and reasonable, you tend to keep level headed

But you also tend to wear your heart on your sleeve

Hmpf. I normally score dead even on these type of things....

Ten things I've done that you haven't...
1. Been the only woman at my undergrad in my year in my particular major.
2. Met Fr. Theodore Hesburgh, past president of the University of Notre Dame.
3. Been a TA for astronomy.
4. Taken a ferry with a tandem.
5. Bike toured in Nova Scotia.
6. Lettered five times in high school, but not in any sport.
7. Woken up to a Hal-Hen alarm clock.
8. Seen the original Apple I.
9. Visited the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.
10. Taken the last paper-and-pencil Patent Bar Exam.

Time to go study now.....

#1 could not have been easy. I assume the major was astronomy or one of the hard sciences?

Yep, physics. Complicated by the fact that I tended to date within my major, at least until I met minastir who was the only man not intimidated by my major....

*urk* Reminds me of the friend who took a semester at one of the Ivies to join her boyfriend and was stunned to find that she was the only female math major on campus. There were around 40 math majors at Smith, you see, and she took having women in her classes for granted....

It was lonely, but at least there were a fair amount of women professors and grad students in the department. The skewed ratio came more from the composition of the undergrad, which IIRC was about 60/40 male/female overall at the time...

Yes! I've been reading it! And it rocks like a very rocking thing.

The best part was when, in Baen's Bar, some people pointed out that Daniel would probably actually do well married to Adele, once he got his adolescent hot-pants-syndrome out of his system, and David Drake was all "... What is it with you people! Aubrey doesn't have a thing for Maturin!"

And I, my slash-loving self who belongs to Perfect_Duet, was like "Dude! If you were attempting to make a totally platonic, in no way loving or romantic relationship by basing it on the Aubrey/Maturin series? No wonder you failed so miserably!"

But I decided not to say anything because, you know, David Drake should *keep* failing the way he does! Yes, Mr. Drake. Totally platonic. No hotness there. Nope! Just keep telling yourself that, sir!

So there are more people than just you and me who ship Leary/Mundy? Awesome.

I've been to the Air Force museum! Really cool place. I keep trying and failing to find a way to shoehorn it into an x-files fic. That's the first one on any of these lists I've actually done!

I appreciate your confidence in my abilities, but my knowledge of the Patent Office (and Litheroy for that matter) is nil to zero, so I don't think I could do a writeup that it would deserve. The National Air & Space Museum OTOH... :)

Did you enjoy "Sinking" BTW?

Oh, yes, definitely the National Air and Space Museum as a Tether. That would be fun to see. And, yes I did enjoy "Sinking" very much, especially Mike talking to Larry at the end...

If I recall it correctly, the US Patent Office is a Tether in canon, to Creation. The Seneschal is in service to Lightning.

Mind, I just woke up, so I suppose I could be remembering a different timeline, but I think that's in there as a major Creation Tether. O:>
