Today I succumbed to Baen's evil marketing, and read Some Golden Harbor in its "electronic advance reader copy" form.
I have to say that paying extra was worth it for two reasons:
1. Not going squirrelly before September. 2. Being able to comment on it to David Drake when he comes to town at the end of April (for a Fortress of Glass signing).
I thought it was a very good read, cleverly plotted and structured; and none of the things I was worrying about happened. Yay! Also, many things happened which I was not expecting. (The Tovera plot development -- twisted and fun!) Daniel got to add another layer of experience and complexity to his mad command skillz, and we also got to see him under real stress. There was also a good deal of personal growth again for both Daniel and Adele, as well as some extremely sweet moments to further their relationship. (In that totally low-key and deniable David Drake way.) So I am very happy about it all.
