Damn insomnia. I think it may be a case of cookies not really being kosher parve, or else cross-contaminated with dairy. I will try to not eat the cookies today, and see if I get to sleep any sooner tonight.

I'm running late. Hopefully I will get to class on time.

Edited to add: I made it into class on time, and traffic was not as delayed as earlier on this morning when Mr. Rudbek drove into work.

Brooke brought me Paladin of Souls. I know what I'm going to read tonight, and it won't all be federal courts cases. My computer has severe battery problems -- I turned on the darn thing this morning at 11 am, and the battery is already at 5% from 98% when I turned the machine on.

I showed Brooke the review I received yesterday, and Brooke was quite snarky. She said, "Now you understand why I'm not teaching (college) English any more. Just because the reader doesn't use a particular phrase doesn't mean that the author can't use it. How old is that reviewer?" Brooke suggested I go read Damon Knight's In Search of Wonder.

And I need to go swimming this afternoon.

Squee! Let the victory jig commence! I finally got a callback email from a firm!!!! And my trusts & estates professor now has In re Estate of Black in her hands; hopefully she will like it. If she finds too many legal mistakes, I may well write the sequel as In re Estate of Black, rehearing granted, reheard en banc by JJ. Rudbek, Brooke, McCarthy, and Simak, or else write it up as a Wisconsin Supreme Court decision.

In a fit of total insanity, I have resubscribed to the lois-bujold mailing list, as I need good reading recommendations for non-sf/fantasy. The Bujold List is very good at that....I am in awe of James Bryant on that list, who owns 5000+ books. It is my ambition to someday have that many. IIRC, Brooke has so many that she worries about the structural integrity of her house. Sometimes I think Mr. Rudbek and I have about a thousand or so; I know that the fiction library at our house is in the neighborhood of 350+ books. Mr. Rudbek always comments that we have a better collection than many small-town libraries, and about how they're stacked up to the ceiling.

And I want a Harry Potter costume for this Halloween. Ravenclaw colors. Unfortunately, Washburn High School, with colors of blue and orange, in Minneapolis does not have an on-line store for school apparel. eBay is giving me too much stuff to sort through. I have the feeling that Mr. Rudbek would enjoy a Nazgul costume...

Edited to add: Mr. Rudbek bought me a copy of Paladin of Souls tonight, for the anniversary of when we first started dating.
