All Souls Day
Nov. 2nd, 2003 02:45 pmMass this morning was long. They had the children singing, extra prayers for the dead, and the priest was elderly and rambling. He did talk about the tradition of the Church Militant, the Church Triumphant, and the Church Suffering, and purgatory and the communion of saints, so I was pleased. Some neat stories about the Litany of the Saints -- how two different people on two separate occasions (a funeral service and an ordination) prayed it and felt the presences of those who had gone before, the older brothers and sisters in the faith.
Lots of cute babies and little kids, too, so it was fun to watch them when I zoned out. The family right in front of us had two girls, a baby and one no older than five. Big sister seemed to like playing with little sister, and was very restless overall. Mr. Rudbek tells stories about how he and his brothers were bad in church, etc. Never let a 14-year-old boy babysit a pack of younger boys, as he will teach them to egg houses, etc. Although since Mr. Rudbek and his brothers locked the previous babysitter in the garage, none of the girls in the neighborhood would babysit them anymore...
Now I am back to work on the licensing agreement, and trying to figure out just what we have to turn in. I need to call my classmates and confer with them. Then it is off to editing the IPLR article...I told Brooke that we need 30 hours in every day, but if we had them, the powers-that-be would probably just assign us 40 hours of work for every day.
I can't remember if I've posted this snippet of Vector's Challenge before or not, but it did seem rather appropriate for the feast day:( More In-Laws )
edited to add: ch. 37 of Vector's Challenge is now up at ff.net and submitted to FA as of this afternoon.
amanuensis1 also liked this when I put it up at
acadine's Mary-Sue challenge, so I'm posting up three snippets about the Crossover (Harry Potter/Doctor Who) American Exchange Student from Hell:
