"Disco tribbles" etc.
Dec. 23rd, 2003 11:30 pmThe "disco tribbles", or Kinetic Iron Dust (TM) are patents no. 5,276,609 and D320,666.
The company is TechnoFrolics, and the inventor is David Durlach. http://www.technofrolics.com/trade-show-exhibits-museum-exhibits/magnetic-irondust/dust-overview.html
I wound up calling the PTO today. The results were mailed out yesterday. The person I spoke to told me that the list of numbers for the people who passed would be up "sometime this week." In other words, probably not until Monday. Pass rate for this exam was 45%.
I am getting old; I got into the line at the bookstore when they called 10 minutes to closing, and I still have money left on my gift card. But then again, that store didn't have Night Watch in paperback...
Atticus Falcon has a new version of Planet Law School out...about an inch and a half thick...if I'd had more time, I'd have tried to read it. Ah well, I suppose I will be going back to the bookstore before we leave.
I went out hiking in a park by Bull Run with
minastir today, and my shoes are quite muddy as a result. There was a gun range close by, and we could hear the fire on the range as we hiked. His joking comment on the drive home was that "If the Army of the Potomac comes across the river, we'll be ready for them this time." I of course laughed and had a retort for him about how our marriage was a sign that the war is over...(but of course That Damn War [the American Civil War a.k.a. The Late Unpleasantness a.k.a. The War of Northern/Southern Aggression] is never really over. Did the English ever get over their Civil War? t-q? A.J. Hall?)
ObFandoms: This affects Vector's Challenge, of course. What that story is really about is learning how to live with "the other side" after a civil war is over....The scenery in the park was something like what I imagine the foothills of the Dendarii Mountains to be like, so it reminded me of Bujold's "The Mountains of Mourning."
I was mistaken about the scheduling. One of my other brothers-in-law got in today. The other one is coming in tomorrow night. Despite my best efforts, the menfolk have not finished their Christmas shopping yet and have not settled arrangements for my MIL's birthday. I think my potential future sisters-in-law need to have highly developed organizational skills. A sergeant who served as a quartermaster would do quite nicely, but such a woman might be a little old for the younger brothers-in-law.
And my MIL got Pirates of the Caribbean on DVD!
It's late and I need to get to bed. Happy holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, etc. 'Night, all.
