I have been reading and rereading Ysabeau Wilce's Flora's Dare all weekend long. (yes, it's the second in a series. Yes, you should all go and read the first one, Flora Segunda first).

It has lots of fun stuff. Deeds of derring-do; the heroine is the protagonist; magic; dressing w/ style and flair (18th cent. feel to the style & language); set in a fantasy alt-history San Francisco.

And that ending -- I want you all to go out and read it because I don't want to be the only one waiting for the sequel.

(Yes, it's YA. I don't care.)

I've seen these recommended around my f-list before, so I've got them in my list now. Even though I'm already spending most of this year waiting on sequels to books I've loved recently.

Well, according to her blog, she is currently working on the sequel (which is supposed to be the final one in a trilogy). Hopefully she writes faster than Diane Duane does...

(and maybe if we get enough fans together, we can get some Califa fic!)
