evening report
Aug. 10th, 2003 10:22 pmOn my mood: Brooke the Snarkmeister has to put her dog to sleep. He was getting aggressive and bit somebody...So when I called her tonight, she was very down. I was trying to cheer her up and failing miserably.
Ride report: 31 miles today, averaged 14.6 miles/hour. Clipless pedals are a very good invention. Now my husband wants to take a bike tour from Milwaukee to Minneapolis. He thinks we can do it in six days. I am not so sure about this.
Manual for Patent Examining Procedure: printed out the first two chapters tonight. Chapter 100 was 30 pages; Chapter 200 was 108 pages. The whole manual will probably eat 3 printer cartridges and three reams of paper. But it's still cheaper to print it out than to buy it...
Yesterday at Blockbuster Video, I saw that there is a movie called Enigma that is out. It's apparently set in WWII England, dealing with the codebreakers at Bletchley Park. So I think that I must watch this soon, as I want to get more inspiration for Edmund Vector. (I also have a library book out called something like Battle of Wits, a survey of the entire WWII cryptography efforts. It's choppy because it's all short chapters/interviews, but it has a good timeline in the back. I think there may be enough time to send Edmund Vector to Oxford or Salisbury before the War really heats up....)
My husband is being restless and doing his traditional "try to get stuff done on Sunday night" thing.
And then he wonders why I don't go to sleep easily at night...

Date: 2003-08-11 04:46 pm (UTC)I believe that Michael Apted is preparing a special edition DVD version of it.
Bletchley Park is a wonderful place.
As for Doctor Who, I've been a fan for more than 20 years. Patrick Troughton is my fave incarnation.
Are you getting the DVD's?
(BTW, I saw you talking about Doctor Who on 'Brits reactions to the US' thread on FAP, there are lots of fans of the show posting on FAP)
