evening report
Aug. 28th, 2003 09:52 pmStarted the book pull today, and found a number of problems with cites to Internet pages.
I have attempted to come up with two topics for my Comment; topics are due Sept. 15th. I need to come up with something original enough that no one else has written exactly on it, but established enough so that I can find sources. I came up with a patent law topic and a copyright law topic.
Edited to add: one of the IPLR advisors liked the copyright law topic, and said it had some promise. Sigh. I'll see what the other advisor has to say.
Nasty headache tonight. And I was falling asleep in federal courts this morning, as the professor has far too soothing and Midwestern a voice. He does vary the pitch so it's not monotone, but it still doesn't help.
Revising my resume, as a great deal of them are due tomorrow for campus recruitment...yaargh. I don't know if I should put in for anything available, or hold out for the IP positions. Ah well, print out a ton of resumes and decide in the morning.

Date: 2003-08-28 09:43 pm (UTC)In 2000, I was ready to pick up and leave Tampa. I had the whole world as my option. I started narrowing by where I _didn't_ want to live much more than where I did.
Mostly for climate and such reasons. I wanted to stay in the "South". No Minneapolis, no Chicago. No Boston. NYC was a big no for cost reasons.
The entire west coast got eliminated in one fell swoop. I didn't want to drive the car out there. And why go all the way to California for the tropical paradise aspects, when you already live in a tropical paradise.
So I was down to Austin, Atlanta, and DC by process of elimination pretty quickly.
(Major city was the number 1 eliminater- I wasn't going anywhere smaller than the Tampa Bay area.)
So I would keep the options open, so you have a couple of cities to pick from. IP in in Phoenix, versus not IP in Cleaveland type of things...

Date: 2003-08-28 09:50 pm (UTC)For us, it's Minneapolis & DC for family, Wisconsin because I'll have my license there, Chicago because it's the biggest Midwestern city.
I don't mind the snow, I don't do well in heat, and we want to find someplace where we don't have to drive 50+ miles on the weekend to go biking. So NYC is probably out.
But I think that broadening the search to any IP, with few geographical limitations, is probably not a bad idea...
