Grrr. I think I am going to have to quit eating sausage, as I am having a typical dairy allergy reaction. Why, why, why, do people have to sneak milk into everything? I need to move to Asia. Or Berkeley. Definitely need to move out of the Dairy State...

42 miles on the tandem, averaged 13.9 miles/hour, max about 30 miles/hour. And I desperately need new bike shorts. Three pair are more than overdue for honorable retirement, which explains my mood...the new tires do work rather well, though.

Hello to [livejournal.com profile] mollymoon and [livejournal.com profile] sociofemme and [livejournal.com profile] somniesperus who newly friended me.

No sudden inspirations today on the tandem ride. I think that my Muse is irritated that I'm trying to be all linear, and I'm irritated that it's not working. [livejournal.com profile] kaiz's post about it and the link to Diana Gabaldon's article were excellent. If she can do it, I can do it...And law school is such a linear, organized type of learning that it doesn't make matters much easier in terms of trusting the Muse.

Heh. More fangirls last night. They were asking me what colcannon was, so I told them, and hinted as to why Emmy Vector might be craving it. And someone else on ff.net wants me to continue Pikuash Nefesh, currently a Snape/Pomfrey one-shot. I'll think about it.

Finally got all 276 pages of Ch. 700 of the Manual for Patent Examination Procedure (a.k.a. the MPEP) printed out last night. Chapters 100-700 fit into and fill a 1.5" inch binder. Twenty more chapters and ten appendices to go.

when a youngish man (under to approx. 30) dressed in a cassock walks into the restaurant you're at, and one of your first thoughts is "Wow! Why didn't [insert character here] (hush up, Emmy Vector) kick Snape's feet out from under him at the first available opportunity? Now I understand the whole 'Father What-a-Waste' thing..."

(And the fellow was tall and skinny as well. If he'd had shoulder-length black greasy hair, black eyes, and a larger nose, he could have passed for Snape. I also now understand the comment of one of my college classmates who spent 3 years in seminary, that girls thought he was either safe or a challenge...)

The husband and I spent a lot of time discussing whether said young man was a priest, seminarian, or merely in costume. Since he was with a young couple with a baby in regular clothes, he probably was not "merely in costume." However, I've never seen anybody that young wearing a cassock for real, and I've been educated at a number of Roman Catholic-affiliated schools. Old priest, 90 years older than God, yes, I've seen a live one in a cassock, but not somebody my own age....
